Public hearing Monday
Silver Creek Village Council will hold a public hearing on the draft budget and regular council meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 4. The meeting will also be available via video and telephone. Those interested can call the clerk’s office at 716-934-3240 for codes.
The chapter meets on April 10
Chapter 459, Vietnam Veterans of America, will meet at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 10 at the John T. Murray VFW Post No. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk.
Church plans music on Wednesday
The First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk will present Wednesday, at noon in the sanctuary of the church, Dan Bromsted on the organ, and Virginia Miller and Bridgette Micah on the voice.
Bromsted retired after 30 years teaching elementary music, most recently at Silver Creek Elementary School, where he taught K-5 general music classes and led three award-winning elementary choirs as well. than the annual elementary musical. Currently, Bromsted serves as president of the Hillman Memorial Music Association and arbitrator of All State Voice and Choruses for NYSSMA. He is a Past President of NYACDA where he was instrumental in preserving the New York State Elementary Honor Choir as President for many years, a retired member of CCMTA where he served virtually all positions on their board of directors, and is a frequent clinician, guest bandleader, singer, vocal coach and accompanist for NYSSMA as well as local schools, churches and musicals. Mr. Bromsted is currently in his 9th year as summer organist at 1st United Presbyterian Church in Silver Creek and serves on the church’s worship committee.
This free musical program is designed to offer members of the church community and the general public the opportunity for a period of quiet reflection and contemplation during the midweek hour, throughout the seasons of Advent and of Lent.
DAR meeting scheduled for Thursday
A general meeting of the Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Patterson Library in Westfield. Join us and find out what the organization does.
Valley Historical Society Gathering
The Valley Historical Society will hold the first meeting of 2022 on Tuesday at the Sinclairville Fire Station. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and participants will prepare maple cream. There will also be a little history on maple syrup. Everyone is asked to bring a small bowl and a spoon to incorporate the maple syrup into the maple cream. Anyone interested in local history is welcome to attend this meeting.
