Bains Jr., Frederick C., 91, formerly of Cumberland, died Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital in Connecticut.
Husband of the late June D. (Salway) Bains for 63 years before his death in 2015.
Mr. Bains worked as a technical representative for the textiles and paper dyes departments for EI Dupont Inc. and Mobay Chemical Inc. for many years until his retirement.
Fred was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Church in Cumberland. He found great happiness in visiting the family home on Prudence Island. He enjoyed picking clams and looking for clams on the island as well as working on the “little†house. Those who love him will always remember his easy-going nature, his willingness to always lend a helping hand, and his great sense of humor.
He leaves behind his children, Frederick C. Bains III of Cumberland, Paula A. Bains-Vallee and her husband Edward A Valley of Cranston, RI, Noreen B. Abbott and her husband Charles Abbott of Middletown, CT; two grandchildren, William F. Bains and Kyle B. Abbott; his great-grandson, Zackary; his brother, William J. Bains and his wife Prudence of Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews and several great-nieces and grand-nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to the Celebration of Fred’s Life which will be held with visiting hours on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the JJ Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.
A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Mount Calvary cemetery.
