MOBILE, Alabama (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University football team continued their busy days leading up to the 2021 LendingTree Bowl today, December 16, in Mobile, Ala.

The day started with a focus on service for the Eagles and their opponent, the Liberty Flames. Representatives from each team traveled to different charities to participate in the event. Eastern was given the opportunity to pack food for those in need at Feeding the Gulf Coast, an organization that exists to serve hungry people along the central Gulf Coast. From making boxes to packaging meals, the players in attendance were able to make an incredible impact.

After the service, their service opportunity, the entire roster and coaching staff reached ports, where they were able to visit the USS Alabama, a 1942 warship over 600 feet in length. . A museum brimming with historic machines, educational opportunities, and other war stories unique to the United States, team members enjoyed learning from veterans, participating in simulator rides, and exploring the depths of the walls of the ship and an accompanying submarine.

After lunch and team meetings, it will be the resumption of football for the Greens and Whites this afternoon. The team is getting ready for their last full Bowl Week practice and will once again be using the facilities at the nearby UMS Wright Prep School.

The action is set to continue tomorrow, December 17, with another full roster of events the Eagles will attend. EMU will get their first glimpse of Hancock Whitney Stadium, the site of Saturday’s game, on an early morning stroll. The Head Coach Chris Creighton will also participate in the official press conference of the event.

Next, in front of an expected crowd of 50,000, Eastern will participate in a Mardi Gras parade and cheering rally downtown.
