New faces at the Old Mill Museum

One of the area’s most historic attractions has hired what the organization says are two critical new positions, essential to the growth and development of the Old Mill Museum.

According to the Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum in Lindsborg, they have hired Caroline de Filippis as director of community development and Adam Pracht as director of marketing and communications. The two started this week and join General Manager Lenora Lynam on the museum’s full-time staff.

“I enjoyed getting to know Lindsborg,” said de Filippis, “and am thrilled to be a part of preserving Lindsborg’s thriving history and heritage at the Old Mill.”

Caroline is passionate about improving society by helping individuals and organizations reach their full potential. She has a background in marketing communication and sustainable development with work experience in the public and private sector. She holds a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership to Sustainability and a Master of Arts in Marketing Communications.

She consults organizations part-time and is a board member of the Lindsborg Convention and Visitors Bureau. Originally from France, Caroline immigrated to the United States via Scotland with her husband and son a year ago. In her spare time, Caroline enjoys nature-related activities, reading, experiencing and learning from the community.

Based in Lindsborg since 2015, Adam Pracht brings to the Old Mill and the Swedish Heritage Museum more than two decades of experience in marketing, public relations, finance and communications.

“It’s an exciting new adventure to begin in this role for the museum,” said Pracht. “I look forward to using my experience and expertise to benefit my hometown.

He received the Robert F. Kennedy Award for writing about the underprivileged while pursuing studies in journalism and Spanish at the University of Kansas. He also holds a Master of Education in “Transformative Education: Higher Education Administration” from McPherson College, where his thesis was on a comprehensive marketing plan for the college.

Most recently, he served as the Marketing and Volume Purchasing Coordinator for the Smoky Hill Education Service Center in Salina. He oversaw a complete brand overhaul, including a new logo, and helped deliver critical supplies to schools and nonprofits during the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its current priority is to get community feedback and begin developing a detailed marketing and communications plan.

Pracht lives with his wife and three children in his house in Lindsborg. In his spare time, he also works as an audio producer for the sci-fi story podcast Escape Pod, where he was part of a four-time Hugo Award-nominated team. He is also an amateur woodcarver, singer and musician, and photographer.

The Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum celebrates the pioneering spirit of those who settled or now live in the Smoky Valley region. The museum collects, preserves, researches, exhibits and interprets materials related to this heritage with particular emphasis on the period from 1870 to 1910. With two buildings on the National Register of Historic Places and extensive archives and collections of artifacts, the museum honors the rich history of Lindsborg and its people.
