2nd Annual Road Show

Pompano Beach – The 2nd Annual Road Show and Vintage Garage Sale, hosted by the Pompano Beach Historical Society, will be held November 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 217 NE 4 Ave. There will be five antique appraisers on site, covering many different areas. of expertise. Among the evaluators will be Robert Woodhouse, from the BBC’s Antique Road Show. Ratings are $10 per article and each person is limited to a maximum of five articles. At the same time, the garage sale will feature various items, from bric-a-brac and sporting goods to jewelry and fine art.

Pompano Beach – Kick off the holiday season with Light Up MLK, Nov. 20 at Annie Adderly Gillis Park, 601 St. Joseph Blvd. Martin Luther King. The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include food, a visit from Santa, live entertainment and more. The tree lighting is at 7 p.m.

Deerfield Beach – Full Art Method classes with a different theme and included art supplies will be held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Nov 19, Dec 17, Jan 21, Feb 18, March 25, April 22 and May 20 at the Deerfield Beach Historical Society Museum and Cultural Center, 84 SE 4 Ave. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. South Florida Chamber Ensemble Concert

Deerfield Beach – Strangers at Sea, a concert focusing on the plight of the oceans by a variety of composers, will be held indoors, Nov. 20 from 3-5 p.m. at the Deerfield Beach Historical Society Museum and Cultural Center, 84 SE 4 Ave. the cost is $10 per person. Call 954-429-0378.

Toys for toddlers

Pompano Beach – The office of Myers Insurance, 703 S. Fed. Hwy., will collect new unboxed toys for the US Marine Corps’ annual Toys for Tots campaign. Toys can be dropped off at the office until December 8. They will be picked up by the Marines on December 9, who will hand them over to children in need. Drop-off hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, deposits are made from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 954-784-9029.

Sale of used books

Oakland Park – The Friends of the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library will be holding their Used Book Sale Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 1298 NE 37 Street. All proceeds benefit the library.

Relax through art

Deerfield Beach – Artist Gabriella Gamperl will lead a Relax Through Art workshop, Nov. 30, 7-9 p.m. at the Deerfield Beach Historical Society Museum and Cultural Center, 84 SE 4 Ave. The cost is $45 and registration is required by November 29. Superior Self Healing Meditation

Deerfield Beach – Higher Self Healing Meditation: The Effortless Path to Samadhi, with New Pelican columnist Cary Bayer, founder of Higher Self Healing Meditation, is scheduled for Nov. 20, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at The Theosophical Society of South Florida at Thubten Kunga Ling Temple, 201 SE St. The class is free.
