Saginaw area basketball highlights: Heritage girls take first win of season

Saginaw Heritage claimed their first women’s basketball victory of the season on Saturday, overtaking Detroit Mumford in the Lady Phoenix Shootout at Detroit Renaissance High School.
Alexxandria Braddock dominated for the Hawks, scoring 21 points with seven rebounds. Zar’ria Mitchell followed with 20 points and six assists, while Lauren Gunn scored 18 points with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Heritage was leading 34-16 at halftime before Mumford made a short run to reduce the lead to 46-34 at the start of the fourth quarter. The Hawks 1-3 put the game on the sidelines with a 26-point fourth quarter.

Frankenmuth 56, Hamtramck 42
Frankenmuth took a 14-1 lead after a quarter and increased it to 46-19 before the fourth quarter before Hamtramck finished with a 23-point fourth quarter on Saturday in the Lady Phoenix Shootout at Detroit Renaissance.
Emma Kerkau scored 10 points with nine rebounds to lead the Eagles 4-0, Zoey Persails adding nine points and six rebounds. Frankenmuth forced 25 turnovers.

Saginaw High 61, Romulus 53
Saginaw High tied their record at 2-2 with a Saturday victory over Romulus at the Romulus Christmas Tournament. Davarion Mitchell led the Trojans with 14 points, while D’Quan Lowe-Patman added a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Tory Allen followed with 11 points, while Karim McCune scored nine points with nine assists.

Reese 82, Lyon South East 59
Damarquss Palmreuter scored 27 points to eclipse his career 1,000 point mark, leading Reese to a victory on Saturday in the Battle of Midway in La Coruña. The Rockets trailed 37-36 at halftime before a 22-6 run in the third quarter gave the Rockets the edge they needed to move up to 4-0.
Jake Rau added 17 points for Reese. Tanner TerBush and Jesse Stricker added 12 points each, Wesley Robinson scoring 10. Adam Jagacki led South Lyon East with 24 points, 20 in the first half.
